You've been asking for a bowmaking workshop in Canada, and we've teamed up with Lure of the North to make it happen! Build a complete primitive archery kit including a bow, quiver and arrows in this 6-day archery deep dive held at Lure of the North's remote and breathtaking wilderness basecamp in Ontario, Canada! This course has limited availability and stellar introductory prices, so don't miss out!
You'll learn to craft a powerful, smooth shooting longbow, a bison leather quiver, and (optional) wooden arrows using only simple hand tools. This course is accessible to all skill levels. You don’t need prior archery or woodworking experience, but must be teachable and willing to follow instructions.
Each bow will be crafted to your personal draw length and desired draw weight. You’ll be challenged to navigate the character (imperfections) in the wood with guidance from Master Bowyer Correy Hawk and Co-Instructor Tim Williams. The small group size leaves plenty of time open for Q&A. Take years of trial and error off the learning curve with focused individual instruction.
The workshop closes with lessons on the fundamentals of longbow marksmanship with your new bow, and the choice to extend your stay for an additional 2-day, self-guided small game hunt. ALONE Season 7 legend Kielyn Marrone will provide some tips for hunting success before your departure from basecamp.
Bow materials, bison leather, tools, meals, camping, and access to The Pond facilities (wood-fired hot tub, swimming, sauna) are provided.
Anyone who wishes to participate in the optional arrow build must purchase wooden arrow shafts beforehand and bring them to the workshop (a dozen shafts typically cost between $35 to $50 USD).
